THE A-504 CHAIR
Yrjö Kukkapuro designed CHAIR A-504 in 1980 for AVARTE Finland. The design is typical for Yrjö
Kukkapuro’s approach with its puristic lines, materials and elements that can be entirely
dismantled, bearing the notion and characteristics of user friendly, sustainable design that lasts for
a life time.
CHAIR A-504 consists of a metal frame with wooden arm rests, black plywood plates as seat and
back which are padded and will be re-upholstered with the artist contributions by us.

Natalie Gibson, from London UK, is past her 80th birthday and a British design legend, who was recently awarded with the MBE at Buckingham Palace for her achievements in fashion print design and for her teaching career as the founding member of Central Saint Martins’ fashion print department.( In fact, four of our participating artists were taught by Natalie at Central Saint Martins.)

Similar to Yrjö Kukkapuro, who never stopped his creative practice, Natalie doesn’t look back but keeps working with the same wit and enthusiasm today, as when she was designing for Twiggy and Sir Terence Conran in the sixties. Natalie has been an inspiration to generations of young designers and her love of print remains undiminished. Her natural inclination to all things colourful still influences what she likes, wears, buys and her house is testament to that. As she says herself, she is a magpie for colour. In the 1960’s when you were regarded as rather »hippie« if you wore 2nd hand clothes, to the 1980’s when you were quite hip to wear stuff from »vintage clothes shops« to today’s much needed eco-aware culture of »upcycling«, Natalie has seen many changes, in attitude, styles, technology and the culture of fashion schools and their students. Through all of this she has always inspired both her students and those around her and retained that wonderful sense of colour and design. Percy Miranda (They/Them), (Madrid, 1995) is an interdisciplinary artist working across design, installation, and writing. Ranging from functional art objects to written and sculptural works of autofiction, their practice engages critically with ideas of functionality and success through queer theory and philosophy.

London-based illustrator, ceramicist and textile designer, John Booth is renowned for his graphic aesthetic featuring multi-layered collages of textures and colors.
Born in Scotland in 1984 and raised in Cumbria, he enjoyed art from a very young age.
He moved to London in 2004, where he graduated with a BA in fashion print design at Central Saint Martins in 2009. He has since then taught as a lecturer both at Central Saint Martins as well as at the University of Westminster. During his studies, he realised that he could channel his interest in fashion and textiles through his passion for drawing. His works are distinct and identifiable, characterized by vibrant and youthful multi-layered collages bursting with color and texture. His instinctive, un-laboured collage techniques combined with painted and drawn elements bring together rough-and-ready textures with luminous colors for a touching sensitivity.

More recently, Booth has been focusing on making ceramic ornaments, prints and vases with Studio Voltaire and interior and art based objects with lan McIntyre under their collaborative platform Supergroup. His diverse works seem to feature as often in the fashion world as they do on magazine covers, restaurant walls and in museum collections. John is currently focusing on his studio work - exploring ceramic objects and furniture as well as his textile print designs for luxury fashion and interior labels

Anne Koskiluoma is a Finnish textile designer, artist and curator.

Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto are the creative forces behind the internationally renowned design studio ELEY KISHIMOTO, established in 1992. Known for their playful and bold use of patterns, the duo’s work spans fashion, interiors, and collaboration with various global brands. Mark, originally from Wales, studied at Brighton University before starting his career in fashion. Wakako, originally from Japan, studied at Central Saint Martins and developed her creative vision in textiles and fashion.
ELEY KISHIMOTO gained recognition for their instantly iconic Flash print, which became a symbol of the brand's signature graphic style. The duo’s approach to design is rooted in a love for pattern, with a focus on timeless, energetic visuals that transcend seasonal trends. Their work has graced catwalks and homes alike, blurring the lines between fashion and design. Beyond fashion, they have worked with global brands like Louis Vuitton, Nike, and BMW, expanding their design philosophy into new territories.
With a focus on craftsmanship, collaboration, and creativity, Mark and Wakako have maintained ELEY KISHIMOTO as a forward-thinking studio that continually pushes the boundaries of textile design, remaining an influential and respected name in both the fashion and design industries.

The artist duo Monica Germann and Daniel Lorenzi, known for their site-specific works, blends figurative and abstract elements to create immersive experiences. Variable in scale the works resonate with the environment and its inhabitants. Their art practice can include electronic music.
They live and work in Zurich.

Ada Egg Koskiluoma is a Swiss/Finnish artist, musician and composer. Their sound practice is rooted in experimental, electronic music production and incorporates field recordings and the writing of words. As part of sound duo Go Sing, they run a monthly radio show at RTM.FM London and are currently working on a new album. Growing tomatoes and pickling & fermenting food makes their heart full.

Sonnhild Kestler is a Swiss textile designer who lives and works Zürich. She graduated at the University of Arts Zürich in 1986 and has worked on independent design projects ever since. She is known for her colorful handprinted silk scarves, embroidered cushions, terry towels and rugs. Sonnhilds compositions follow non linear narratives inspired by her numerous travels to India and Turkey. Her ornamental language bears rural and archaic notions and she describes her designs as ethno-artisan.

Until recently, most of her fabrics were printed by her own hands at her print studio close by river Limmat. Sonnhild runs a shop in shop at Thema Selection, a Zürich based concept store, where she exclusively sells her own collections. Since 2008 Sonnhild has engaged in collaborations with Maharam New York and Vitra followed by architectural, interior design projects for public spaces in Switzerland and she has developped various rug collections and designs for upholstery fabrics. Sonnhild Kestler was awarded with the Grand Prix of Swiss Design in 2010.

Urs Egg studied architecture at Cooper Union in New York where he was taught by John Hejduk, Raymond Abraham, and Peter Eisenman. UNDEND Architects was founded as a two man enterprise while still studying in New York in 1992. The first UNDEND competition submission was drawn up on a ping pong table that was found on the street and placed in the living space as a mockup studio.

Christian Meili holds a MA of Architecture from ETH Zürich. In 2010 he became a partner of UNDEND Architects, where he has worked since 1998. Today he runs the UNDEND offices together with his partner Urs Egg. He is passionate about architecture and design but he has a true wind surfer soul. Christian is interested in new water sport technologies and is always ready to test innovations himself. CAKE E Motorbikes caught his eye some time ago. Getting from one construction site to another within the city or moving surfing material to the right water spot is something he’d like to do in CAKE style. The swedish brand found interest in collaborating with UNDEND and it was agreed that D.O.N.U.T. becomes the first official testing ground for CAKE E Motorbikes in Switzerland.

Nima Shafiani (1995, London) works in the traditions of painting and peer-to-peer mentoring. Nima received the Gary Hume Scholarship for Painting in 2017, which allowed him to study at Goldsmith’s University. Born 1967 in Switzerland, textile designer, musician and multidisciplinary artist Christoph Hefti, divides his time between Brussels, Paris and Zurich.

After studies in textile design in Zürich and fashion at Central Saint Martins in London, Christoph worked for Jean-Paul Gaultier in Paris and later took on the role of creative assistant to Dries Van Noten in Antwerp where he remained over a decade. Hefti moved on freelancing for various fashion houses including Lanvin and Balenciaga, Mugler in Paris and Acne Studios in Stockholm a.o.

Christoph Hefti’s love for hand crafted textiles has taken him to Nepal, where he designs and develops his own hand-knotted rugs in close collaboration with Nepalese rug weavers. The direct interaction between the designer and the craftspeople proves fascinating and forwards ideas of using ancient crafts in a contemporary art context. Christoph’s approach enters mystical and even spiritual traditions implementing very personal yet worldly themes, transporting these to genuine textile and ceramic art objects.

Lilla Egg is a Swiss/Finnish textile and fashion designer, who recently graduated from the BA Fashion Print Course at Central Saint Martins in London. In her practice, she strongly focuses on textile exploration and prioritises working with natural materials. Through experimenting with textile techniques such as screen-printing, weaving, knitting and embroidery, as well as drawing and painting, Lilla translates the stream of inspiration drawn from the natural world as well as her interest in storytelling into her own body of work.

Martin Reukauf, *1970, is a Swiss artist working in the media of painting. After graduating from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem, NL and finishing postgraduate studies at the Ateliers Arnhem his practice has been based in Switzerland. He was awarded with the Kiefer Hablitzel Stipend in 2000 and the Zürich County Art Stipend in 2015.
Martin Reukauf paints in the woods. He paints what he sees; he paints because he can perceive. At the same time he is questioning the relevance of perceptibility within the media of painting. Do we only comprehend because of recognition? Martin paints what he sees without inscribing subject or motive, without subordinating his media to representation – inventing his own pictorial language beyond terminologies of abstraction and reality.

Projects of Markus Wetzel are settled somewhere on a borderland between art and architecture. Implementing historical analysis of surroundings and vital aspects of a scene or an object, Markus develops and builds all things necessary from his perspective. A sculpture, a piece of furniture, an architectural intervention, or a photo.
