Come and taste them again for the first time!
Freshly baked Artisan D.O.N.U.T.S. by Lillaallil.
introducing the finnish original Munkkipossu.
Zürich Adjacencies is an exhibition of works Roland Tännler conceived over the last decade. 50 everyday pictures taken within a radius of 11 km while rambling Zürich neighborhoods on everyday rounds. The series of photographs stem from curiosity of the moment and sheer pleasure in random occurences with visual potential. It is a way of tracing and documenting fractions of time where magic happens and unexpected interrelations start playing inverse to the perpetual pulse of the streets — a vision fluctuating between notions of objective concretion and aesthetic abstraction orchestrated by a lyric mind.
»I often take pictures while waiting. Literally waiting for the train, waiting for someone who is late, waiting for my kids; it is within these parenthesis of time that my eyes start to wander and where I take note.«
The digital images, specificly chosen to form pairs, groups or adjacencies within the series, are processed and transferred as digital UV prints on objets trouvés — 50 ply wood boards from old archival cabinets, all measuring exact 31 x 35cm, each bearing individual signs of material use. The cellar find in the studio of the photographer eventually merges with the applied photos to 50 unique objects.
Roland Tännlers exhibition proposal is very much congenial to the D.O.N.U.T. motto and we are thrilled to have him doing donuts at the D.O.N.U.T. as our second resident showcase.
Marc Droz is a graphic and type designer who lives and works in Zürich. He has created the graphic identity, website and signage for our new event space among numerous other collaborations with UNDEND architects over the years. He is the first to be appointed as D.O.N.U.T.’s Resident Showcase.
The poster series is based on various paper collages. Marc Droz likes to play with image material that he has collected over years, browsing thrift stores. Cut outs from magazines and educational childrens books from the 70’s play the key role and are arranged in surreal and humorous juxtapositions. The common raven towering over the American car f.i. in »Kolkrabe« — the bird genius questioning the mankind—layered in complex interweave of three color raster grids an dots, that reach an intricate, almost textile character, is typical for Marc Droz’s work and genuine language as a designer.
The prints were realized on silk screens at Maschinenzoo in Lenzburg in collaboration with Axel Friedrich.

The SCHOOL OF FINE ARCHITECTURE ventures in teaching projects and programs that want to understand the terminology of space from an artistic and poetic side. We explore and propose spacial layouts and the making of design objects mirrored by the knowledge of our perception.
Doing donuts at the D.O.N.U.T. is dedicated to the safe keeping of existing design objects, and design material. An idea of propelling fresh cycles where nothing goes to waste and things will shine anew.
